Davoren keeps loose and busy

Conductor and composer Tom Davoren has been keeping himself very busy of late.

It has been a busy 2010 so far for young Welsh composer and conductor, Tom Davoren, who is celebrating this summer with a world premiere and the release of a brand new website.

Premiere

This weekend will see the first performance of his 'Loose Variants', for brass quintet and vibraphone, by the Wormshead Brass Ensemble.

The work is his latest in a series of chamber pieces began in 2009 following 'Two Winter Scenes' and 'Three Movements for Four Trombones'.

The next of the series, 'Riff Figures', will receive its premiere in London’s St. John Smith Square this October, performed by the Central Band of the RAF Brass Trio of Ben Godfery, Jonathan Pippen and John Truscott.

Hand in

Tom is still keeping has compositional hand firmly in the brass band world though, with pending releases including the title track for Brett Baker’s brand new album and a new work for European solo champion Glen Van Looy.

In addition he has also found time to make concert appearances from as far as Caerleon to London with the Markham, Aldbourne and BTM Bands.

Tom told 4BR: "I hope everyone enjoys my new site. With updated media, and news fed through my Twitter page there is certainly lots to see and do!"
