Rest and recuperation for Dr Roy

Dr Roy Newsome is home from hospital and looking forward to taking a bit of a well earned rest…

Newsome

4BR has been informed that Dr Roy Newsome has been discharged from hospital after he was given the ‘all clear’ by his own doctors following a series of medical tests.

Well earned rest

He is now enjoying some well earned rest and recuperation at home under the watchful eye of his wife Muriel.

Dr Newsome was discharged from Fairfield Hospital in Bury on Friday and is now in the process of tackling the mountain of correspondence that has accrued from his recent 80th birthday celebrations as well as the numerous ‘Get Well’ wishes from his fans around the banding world.

Strict orders

Family friend Alan Wycherley told 4BR: "It’s great news that he’s back home and getting the very best of loving care from nurse Muriel ‘Nightingale’ Newsome. She has already given him his strict orders to take things easy, but he is already tackling the mountain of letters and cards that have built up since his birthday and hospital stay."

Fond memories

Alan also told 4BR that Dr Roy hopes to be back on his banding feet as soon as possible and in time to enjoy his usual visit with Muriel to the British Open – a contest that holds some wonderful winning memories for them both.
