Death of Robert Anthony Bowden

After an extremely short battle with pancreatitis Robert suddenly passed away on 20th August 2010 aged 21.

Dearly loved son of Christina and Wayne, and treasured brother of David. Much loved Grandson of Clare (Wendy) and John Stewart and Joan and Bert Bowden (both dec). Cherished nephew of Andrew (dec) and Michelle and John.

Robert was the grandson of the late Bert Bowden OAM, and of the late Joan Bowden. Bert was involved with the Victorian Bands’ League for over 40 years, and was Secretary, and later, the Administrator of the League from 1974 to 1993.

The Celebration of Robert’s Life was held at St Mary's Basilica, Geelong on 30th August 2010.

A massed band played outside the Basilica and performed the following hymns: ‘Make Me A Channel of Your Peace’, ‘Nearer My God To Thee’, ‘St Clements’, ‘Crimond’, and ‘Deep Harmony’. Family and friends performed ‘Always Look on The Bright Side of Life’ during the service. After the funeral the band reformed to play ‘All That Jazz’ and the march ‘Victoria’ before forming a guard of Honour.

Robert will always be remembered with love and cherished memories by his family and friends and he will be deeply missed.
