Sykes quartet set for 30th celebrations

The Sykes family quartet will be helping their local band celebrate 30 years of brass playing this weekend.

The Sykes family quartet of conductor Joanne, tuba star Steve and virtuoso sons Carlton and Stephen, are joining forces this weekend to help the Midsomer Norton & Radstock Silver Band celebrate its 30th Anniversary since its reformation.

In a concert at the beautiful Midsomer Norton’s Methodist Church in Somerset on Saturday, Joanne will lead her family of performers as guest soloists.

New work

Steve has also composed the opening ‘Anniversary Intrada’ to mark the special occasion, and the evening will feature historic slide shows and on screen presentation as well as the music the band has prepared.

Joanne told 4BR: "It promises to be a wonderful evening of music making and happy memories – and we have a celebrity compere too in ‘Come Dine With Me’ star Adrian Dando."
