Results: Kiveton Community Woodland Festival

Trinity Girls come out on top at Kiveton.

The third Kiveton Community Woodland Brass Festival recently took place on the site of the old Kiveton Park Colliery, South Yorkshire.

Organised by the Yorkshire and Humberside Brass Band Association in partnership with Forestry Commission England, the site has been reclaimed to include a natural amphitheatre where the bands performed their 20-minute entertainment programme.

Open to 3rd/4th Section and unregistered bands the event had a full entry of twelve competitors who were adjudicated on by Mike Kilroy and entertainment judges Councillor Peter Blanksby and Brenda Bradley.

Best Soloist: Gillian Hinkley (Trinity Girls)
Best March: Hucknall & Linby
Best Hymn: Dronfield CMW
Most Entertaining Band: Hade Edge Youth

Best unplaced 4th Section Band: Oughtibridge

Mr Andy Medhurst, Sherwood and Northants District Forest Management Director, expressed delight at the continued success of the contest and the support from the appreciative audience and confirmed that dependant on funding becoming available the Forestry Commission would be supporting the event again in July 2012.

Wotton-under-Edge Silver Band

November 4 • We are a busy and very friendly 2nd section band with 5 current vacancies - FRONT ROW CORNET – BACK ROW CORNET- EUPHONIUM - Bb BASS - PERCUSSION. We rehearse on Tuesdays & Thursdays near our lovely home town, just a short drive from M5, J14.


Harlow Brass Band

November 4 • We have vacancies for CORNETS, TROMBONES, 2ND HORN AND PERCUSSION. We are a welcoming, non contesting band who organising their own Spring and Christmas concerts and enjoy playing at local events throughout the year.


Chinnor Silver

November 4 • Our COMMUNITY BANDS next rehearsal is on Monday 10th at 11am and held in our bandroom.. Blowing with us doesn't impact your own band and its free.. We welcome all regardless of ability . Tea and cakes an added bonus.
