SBBA supports Whitburn Festival of Brass.

The Scottish Brass Band Association has announced its support of the forthcoming Whitburn Brass Festival. The event will see a full weekend of brass activities being run by the Whitburn Youth Band on the weekend of 18th — 19th May at Brucefield Church in the town.

Full weekend

The weekend schedule commences at 6.00pm with a Youth Masterclass by tuba star Les Neish on Friday 18th, followed at 7.30pm by a concert featuring Exchange Communications Whitburn Band and Whitburn Youth Band.

Saturday 19th May brings a Youth Solo Contest and welcomes Les Neish back in the official capacity as adjudicator.

A SBBA spokesperson told 4BR: "The Whitburn Youth Band offers an invitation to all youth brass players of all abilities and would warmly welcome attendance to all or even part of the weekend's activities."

They added: "The masterclass provides a fantastic chance to learn from Les Neish, whilst the solo competition offers an ideal opportunity to perform in a friendly and supportive environment. It’s a weekend that promises to offer a lot of fun, where youth players can interact with their fellow musicians.”
