Brian Elliott

Brian Elliott, one of the brass band movement’s most respected administrators and contest controllers has retired from his role as Secretary to the Council of West of England Brass Band Associations after 13 highly enjoyable years.

Retired

Brian (right) officially retired at the organisation’s Annual Meeting on the weekend with the role now being taken by Sue Oldfield, who shadowed Brian at the West of England Champion earlier this year.

Thanks

Brian told 4BR: "I wish to thank all Council members, past and present, all the West of England band secretaries and musical directors, the many traders who exhibit at the Championships, the band press, in fact, everyone who I have come into contact with over those 13 years."

When you go measuring a man's success, don't count money — count happiness. From both my wonderful wife Joyce and myself, thank youBrian Elliott

Wonderful experience

He added: "It made the most difficult, but interesting job in the band world such a wonderful experience, and one I thoroughly enjoyed. When you go measuring a man's success, don't count money — count happiness. From both my wonderful wife Joyce and myself, thank you."

New secretary

As stated, the newly appointed Secretary is Sue Oldfield, and she may be contacted on 01392 272048/07768 973095 or by email oldfieldi.s@blueyonder.co.uk.
