The 67th Annual Championships of the South West Brass Band Association will be held on Saturday 2nd November at the Riviera International Conference Centre, Torquay commencing at 10.00am and continuing through until mid evening.

The adjudicators will be the highly respected Jim Davies and Derek Renshaw.

Excellent entry

The Association is pleased to report an excellent entry of 30 bands competing in six sections, with the Riviera Centre and Torquay welcoming bands and their supporters located in Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, Gloucestershire, Wiltshire, Hampshire and Dorset.

Youth entries

A spokesperson told 4BR: "It is also pleasing to note the attendance of two Youth Bands and two Training Bands in their respective sections."

They added: "The Championships are unique in the brass band movement, as no monetary awards have ever been made to the winning bands, and acknowledging the high cost of travel etc, the Association is extremely proud that its member and guest bands continue to show such loyalty to the Association."

It is also pleasing to note the attendance of two Youth Bands and two Training Bands in their respective sectionsSWBBA spokesperson

Presentation

The presentation of awards will be made by the Association’s Life Associate Member, Sue Richards, and the composer Kenneth Downie.

An all-day ticket is available on the day at only £7 (with concessions).
