Hammonds open the doors for new recruits

If you are young and enthusiastic and want to play a brass instrument then Hammonds Youth Band could be just the right place for you...

Hammonds Saltaire

The Hammonds Youth Band is to hold an open weekend to welcome potential new players at their rehearsal facility on the 23rd/24th November.

Two days

The two days will consist of full rehearsals and sectionals with quality tuition and fun activities, as well as a small concert for parents on the Sunday.

The weekend is free to all attendees and it is hoped that there will enough interest to create two bands — one for absolute beginners and one to boost the current the youth band.

Welcome

A spokesperson told 4BR: "Whether you play to a good standard, or haven't ever played an instrument before you are welcome to come along. You just need to be under 18 years old and full of enthusiasm!

If you don’t have an instrument don’t worry, as the band have instruments for your use — so if you have never played before and would like to try please come along and try on one out. It'll be great!"
