Clayson is recruited to become new MD at Roche Brass

After a successful 20 Army career Lee Clayson takes over command at Roche Brass.

Roche Brass

Roche Brass from Cornwall has announced the appointment of Lee Clayson as its new Musical Director.

Recruitment

After a highly successful 20 year musical career in the British Army, where he held the position of principal cornet in all four bands in which he served and was a founder member of the British Army Brass Band, the Plymouth born musician has since set up a recruitment company in his home city as well as keeping his lip in with freelance playing.

Thrilled

With extensive brass band experience to fall back on through his time playing with Woodfalls and Desford amongst others, Lee told 4BR that he was delighted to take up a new conducting role.

"I’m thrilled to officially come on board with Roche Brass following some great work together in helping them to win the First Section at Bugle recently.

The band has made excellent progress over the last couple of years and is full of experienced players. I’m really looking forward to working with the band."

The players were very impressed with the work that Lee did alongside Simon Badge in preparation for Garry Cutt to come in and lead the band to victory at the recent Bugle contestBand Manager, Richard Hawkey

Delighted

Band Manager, Richard Hawkey added: "We are delighted that Lee has accepted our invitation to become our new MD.

The players were very impressed with the work that Lee did alongside Simon Badge in preparation for Garry Cutt to come in and lead the band to victory at the recent Bugle contest."

He added: "Lee takes over from Simon who has been the band’s MD since 2012. We would like to take the opportunity to thank Simon for all of his hard work and wish him all the best in his future endeavours."
