Fresh from their latest tour to the United States, Smithills School Senior Band has welcomed the addition of a trio of new fibre glass timpani from PJS Music Limited.

Delivery

MD Chris Wormald and Head of Music Philip Pavey were delighted to take delivery of the instruments at the school, and with a heavy programme of concert engagements throughout the rest of the year and well into 2015, they will certainly have plenty of use.

Chris told 4BR: "As our flagship bands are in their 25th year at Smithills — along with me — it was long overdue that we replaced the set of timpani bought in 1990.

At the request of a local organisation specialising in music therapy, we are also delighted to be donating our existing timpani to an excellent cause."
