New signings for Skelmanthorpe

There is a brace of new signings at Skelmanthorpe Band ahead of the 2015 season...

Skelmanthorpe

The Skelmanthorpe Band has announced the appointment of two key players ahead of the 2015 contest season.

Becky Abernethy joins on flugel with Alex Evans coming in on Bb Bass. Becky has played for Carlton Main Frickley whilst Alex has enjoyed spells at South Milford and Drighlington.

Thanks

The band has also thanked Sian Linney for five years of excellent performances on flugel, and cornet player Sarah Musgreave, both of whom have just left the band.

Skelmanthorpe's trophy cabinet has filled up nicely this year after they came runner-up at the recent Rochdale contest and claimed a podium finish at the Leicester BBA Open. At that event, solo euphonium Adam Turner also won the ‘Best Instrumentalist’ award.

We are delighted to sign players of quality to fill these chairs as we prepare for what we hope will be a successful 2015Band spokesperson

Delighted

A band spokesperson told 4BR: “We are delighted to sign players of quality to fill these chairs as we prepare for what we hope will be a successful 2015 starting in February at Brass at the Guild Hall and then the Area contest in Bradford.”
