Enderby reflect on a pleasing end to season

The Enderby Band organisation has plenty to be pleased about as they look back on the year just gone...

Regional win

Members of the Enderby Senior Band are reflecting on a pleasing end to their year’s activities, as well as looking forward to defending their First Section Midlands Regional title next March.

Theatre to rugby

The band recently made two appearances at Leicester’s prestigious Curve Theatre, as well as organising their own remembrance concert and leading their local remembrance parade.

In addition they have even entertained the rugby crowds at Leicester Tiger’s Welford Road ground as well as competing at the Wychavon, Leicester and Milton Keynes contests.

That hard work and commitment under MD Simon Jones certainly paid off, with a podium finish at Leicester and fourth place in the combined First & Championships event at Milton Keynes.

Solid performances

The delighted MD, told 4BR: “In my 18 months as MD, the commitment to well-structured preparation and solid performances has helped us enjoy some good results, including a couple of wins, including the Regionals (above) along the way.

Our focus has to be on ensuring we continue to build and promote a culture of development and sustainability.

Going into the Area next year we’ll have a full 3 point lead on the next highest placed band in our section, and of course that’s a really good position for us to be in.”

Bright year

2014 has also been a bright year for the whole Enderby Band organisation, which encompasses five bands containing over 100 musicians of all ages and abilities.

Earlier this year Enderby Concert Band won first prize at the Wood Farm Brewery Contest and a band made up of players from the organisation’s Youth Band and Concert Band successfully retained the unregistered section title at the Leicester Contest.

Bearing fruit

Meanwhile, the commitment to player training is bearing fruits with several players moving up from the Junior Band to the Youth Band, and from the Youth Band into the Senior Band.
