Godfrey takes lead role with Geneva help

Ben Godfrey opts to take lead trumpet roles with Geneva Symphony and Joshol instruments...

Ben Godfrey

The renowned professional brass musician Ben Godfrey is the latest international artist to choose to perform on Geneva Trumpets.

Ben has selected Geneva's 'Symphony' Bb trumpet and 'Joshol' Bb trumpet — a decision that compliments his playing on the leading manufacturer's 'Symphony' cornet.

Exciting sounds

The former Central Band of the RAF player enjoys an outstanding reputation in both brass banding and professional trumpet genres, and told 4BR: "The Geneva 'Symphony' and 'Joshol' trumpets are providing me with new, exciting ranges in sound, colour and projection that I feel are taking me to new levels of performance.

It's for this reason that I choose to play Geneva over other manufacturers."

Fantastic instrument

He added: "The 'Symphony' trumpet is a fantastic instrument in a symphony orchestra, chamber or solo setting. It impresses with its breadth of sound and warm, lyrically timbre, whilst still being able to deliver large volumes of sound and projection which are required in symphony orchestra playing.

Equally impressive is the 'Joshol' trumpet' — designed to meet the demanding needs of the lead trumpet specialist. It delivers an incredibly focused sound with a scintillating high register that enhances the range of any player.

It's the No.1 choice for me when I am called upon to play in such settings."

Diverse range

Duncan Cartledge of Geneva Instruments told 4BR: "We're delighted that Ben has chosen Geneva to provide the perfect trumpet choices for him.

Ben performs such a diverse range of music styles and genres and the fact that he has chosen Geneva is a resounding endorsement for the versatility of instruments. We're honoured to have Ben as a Geneva Trumpet Artist and look forward to working with him in the future."
