Poynton picks up two new star signings

VBS Poynton Band has announced the signing of the Andy Kennedy and Georgina Moulsdale as they look to the future with new tuba and cornet leads.

Andy Kennedy

Vernon Building Society Poynton Band has announced that they have signed Andy Kennedy (above) on solo Eb tuba. He joins following a work promotion move to Warrington from Doncaster.

Award winning

The award winning player has enjoyed successful tenures at Brighouse & Rastrick, as well as with Hatfield Band where he was solo euphonium. After a recent short break from playing he has also decided to pick up a new musical challenge by moving onto tuba.

New principal

He will also join another new signing in Georgina Moulsdale from Rainford, who comes in on principal cornet following the departure of James Yeadon due to work and family commitments.

Huge boost

VBS Poynton MD, Neil Samuel told 4BR: "Gaining a player of Andy's pedigree and experience gives us all a huge boost, whilst Georgina is going to be a real star.

For someone so young she displays amazing maturity and her experience of being principal cornet of the Foden's Youth Band and also playing with the National Youth Band of Great Britain will hold her in good stead for our future challenges."

Thanks

Neil added: "We would like to thank James for leading the band with such distinction and for helping the band claim some of the best results in its history during the past year. We hope to see him back in the bandroom in the future."
