Van Looy to feature with Welsh Youth

Ty Cerdd has announced that euphonium virtuoso, Glenn Van Looy will perform with the National Youth Brass Band of Wales during its summer concert series in 2016.

Paraphrases

The remarkable Belgian will be featured as soloist in Peter Meechan's 'Requiem Paraphrases' as well as in a newly written work by 2016 NYBBW conductor, Tom Davoren.

With his increasingly busy international commitments Ty Cerdd is delighted that the Geneva Instruments Performance Artist is able to appear thanks to the generous support of the renowned instrument maker.

Residential course

The National Youth Band of Waleswill meet for its summer residential course at Monmouth School for Girls in late July before appearing in concerts in Monmouth and at the Aberystwyth MusicFest.

The programme of repertoire to be featured will include a number of premieres as well as major works by prominent Welsh composers, including Alun Hoddinott and Gareth Glyn. Music by the late Mervyn Burtch, Ty Cerdd's Featured Composer for 2016, will also be performed.
