Enderby
The Enderby Band has welcomed Simon Oates to his new Associate role

The Leicestershire-based Enderby Band has announced that Simon Oates has been appointed to a brand new role of Associate Conductor.

Simon is the former Musical Director of Foss Dyke Band, leading them for two years during which time they became Third Section runner-up at the Midlands Regional Championship, gained qualification to the National Finals and promotion to the Second Section.

Simon will work closely with Simon Gresswell, Enderby's MD, in all aspects of preparation for concerts and contests.

Delighted

Speaking about his new appointment, Simon told 4BR: "I'm delighted. Enderby is going from strength to strength under the experienced musicianship of Simon Gresswell and I'm looking forward to supporting him in the ongoing development of this fantastic band."

Positive contribution

Meanwhile, the MD added: "It became apparent because of my own playing commitments with Tubular Brass and Yamaha that I needed help.

Simon works from the same musical song sheet as myself, so I look forward to his positive contribution in helping to lead the band to further success, starting with the defence of our Shirebrook Entertainment title."
