Chris Banks will make his conducting debut with the band at the Bolsover Festival of Brass

The Matlock Band has appointed Chris Banks as their new Musical Director.

Wealth of experience

A spokesperson told 4BR: "Chris currently plays tuba with Jaguar Land Rover Band, and brings a wealth of experience in both playing and conducting.

Having previously taken Syston Band, Chris led them to their first contest win in 23 years years and to the National Finals, so we know he can inspire players."

Looking forward

In response Chris said that he was "looking forward to a long and prosperous musical time with the band"and that he was fortunate to be linking up with a talented and capable group of players.

Chris will lead Matlock for the first time at the upcoming Bolsover Festival of Brass on 30th September.
