Morley looking for bands to get off to a quick march

The popular Morley March & Hymn Tune contest will take place later this year — so be quick of the mark to get your entry in.

The 13th Morley March & Hymn Tune contest will take place in Morley, West Yorkshire on Sunday 16th June.

The traditional format of the popular event comprises a road march along the pedestrianised Queen Street, followed by each band relocating to a main arena to play a trio of verses of a hymn tune before concluding their programme with a contest march.

Generous prize fund

The competition is open to all bands from Championship to Youth. All the music is own choice, with a generous prize fund with a £600 first prize. The adjudicators will be the experienced duo of David Hirst and Stan Lippeatt.

Proceeds from the contest go to the Morley & District Lions organisation and has the full support of the Mayor of Morley and the Morley Community Development Committee.
