The Association of Brass Band Adjudicators (AoBBA) has announced the appointment of Martin Heartfield as the new head of their adjudicator training programme.

The well known conductor and adjudicator is self-employed as a marketing and education consultant, with AoBBA spokesperson David Hirst telling 4BR: "Our adjudicator training programme has been extremely successful. We are currently oversubscribed and can accept no further trainees until 2020."

Martin Heartfield added: "I'm looking forward to my new role as head of the AoBBA adjudicator training programme and developing new initiatives for the benefit of all our adjudicators "
