UoH's Head of Brass, Richard Ward told 4BR: "The Music Department plays its part in this, and we're all pleased with gaining this excellent rating.

It places us highest in the North of England, ninth in the UK and up there with major international institutions with such as Columbia University in New York, Stamford, Yale, UCLA in California and the Universities of Chicago and Sydney.

It's a good reminder that many great things are happening closer to home!"
