Brass band music is getting a little bit more air time on national radio at present, with euphonium virtuoso David Childs the latest performer to get a spotlight on Radio 3.

He was featured on 'Essential Classics' presented by Suzy Klein on Monday morning (22nd April) alongside repertoire by Mussorgsky, Delius and Ravel. David was featured playing 'Toika Tidy!' from the Karl Jenkins 'Euphonium Concerto'.

David told 4BR: "I'm back in the USA at the moment but I was contacted to be asked about the track.

There has been considerable interest in the recordings I've made with the BBC Philharmonic recently so it was good that this one was from my days at Cory conducted by my father. I hope they will now feature the symphonic version when it comes out too."
