Bands are being reminded that the closing date for entries for the Shirebrook Town Council supported 'Open Entertainment Contest' is fast approaching.

The event which takes place on Sunday 7th July will see two sections of competition with bands able to perform extended programmes of 20 minutes to coincide with the requirements of the popular Bolsover Festival of Brass later in the year.

Two sections

Section A will be for Championship, First and Second Section bands, with Section B for Third and Fourth Section competitors. The event will take place at Shirebrook Leisure Centre in Mansfield (NG20 8JQ).

There will be no registration requirements and the contest is open to any band to enter, contesting or non-contesting with a generous prize fund seeing the winner in Section A taking home £750, with podium prizes of £400, £200 and £200 for most entertaining Second Section Band.

The winner of Section B will head home with £300, with podium prizes of £200, £100 and £200 to the highest placed Fourth Section band.

The entry fee is £90. The closing date is 31st May.
