The Hathern Band has announced the appointment of Stephen Barnwell as their new Musical Director.

He will bring a wealth of musical experience and knowledge to the Midlanders, having enjoyed an outstanding military career, becoming became Senior Director of Music Household Division in November 2011. Lieutenant Colonel Barnwell retired from the Army in 2013.

4BR was informed that Stephen will be relocating from London to Leicestershire in 2020 and until that time will be working with conductor David Newman, and will lead the band in concerts and contests.

Band Secretary Lesley Bentley told 4BR: "We are all excited about working with Stephen and can't wait to get started."
