The Fairey Band has offered its congratulations to Tony Greenham, 84, from Beaminster in Dorset on being awarded the British Empire Medal for services to his local community and in particular to his involvement with the local branch of the Royal British Legion for over 40 years.

Vice-President

Tony has been a proud Vice-President of the band for many years and has helped to raise more than £50,000 for local charities by arranging an annual concert featuring Fairey at St Mary's Church in Beaminster, since 1978.

Tony said he was "honoured to receive the BEM"and said he and wife Margaret, who was made an Honorary Townsperson of Beaminster in 2014, had worked as a team over the years.

Tireless

A Fairey Band spokesperson told 4BR: "'Tony and Margaret are Fairey's number 1 fans and they have supported us tirelessly over the last four decades.

We always look forward to our annual visit to Beaminster, and we cannot think of anyone more deserving of such an award."
