The countdown to the Christmas carol season begins...

Strata Brass to bring new take on a Charles Dickens family favourite to our screens this Christmas.

Dickins
The story has become a Christmas favourite since it was written in 1843

Strata Brass is currently starting to undertake a new project based on the Charles Dickens classic tale, 'A Christmas Carol' as they look to bring a new online festive concept to our computer screens this year.

Scrooge

Their 25 minute retelling of the redemptive tale of the misanthropic Ebenezer Scrooge, complete with various images, movies snips and special guest narrators will punctuate a series of brand new works in 'A Christmas Carol Suite' composed by Strata's MD Jonathan Bates.

The story which Dickins wrote in 1843 has become a much loved and much imitated Christmas favourite — from the great Alastair Sim playing the protagonist in 'Scrooge' in 1951 to Michael Caine accompanied by the cast of The Muppets.

Transforms

The kernel of the story however remain the same — Scrooge is visited the ghost of Christmas Past, Present and Yet to Come which transforms a curmudgeonly miser into a generous, kind-hearted man in time for Christmas Day.

This was a concept the band were hoping to bring to life in their Christmas concerts this year with a series of youth and school orientated events aimed at encouraging a new generation of brass band listener, but the current circumstances have meant the band have had to move this idea online.
