The newly named Brass Band of Central England (formerly Jaguar Land Rover Band) has announced the appointment of Iain McKnight as its Musical Director.

"We are delighted to welcome Iain,"Band Manager David Kershaw told 4BR. "He brings a wealth of experience, and we're excited to work together as we build the next chapter in the band's history".

Iain takes over the baton from Brad Turnbull with immediate effect, with David adding. "We would like to acknowledge the huge contribution Brad has made over the last four years. We are also very pleased he will remain part of our musical leadership team, supporting both Iain and our professional conductor Howard Evans".

Delighted

Talking about his appointment Iain said: "I am delighted to be joining the band at this exciting and pivotal time. There is a great mix of wise experience and youthful zeal. They are ambitious, determined, and hard-working and I join them in sharing these aims.

I'm looking forward to working alongside Howard Evans as well as Brad Turnbull — both musicians I have a deep professional respect for as we pen a substantial new chapter in the band's future."

Official engagement

Iain's first official engagement will be on Saturday 22nd October in a concert with Shipston Town Band.
