Crofton Silver Band has announced departure of Musical Director, Jim Davies.

The Welshman helped guide the Yorkshire First Section band though a memorable 150th anniversary year and after taking over in 2022 had been instrumental in reshaping the band after the enforced Covid-19 break.

Band Chairperson, Roger Hine told 4BR: "Jim and his wife, Rhiannon, who took on the principal horn seat to provide maternity leave cover, have done a great deal for us during their tenure and we greatly appreciate their contribution to our 150th celebrations.

Jim's vast experience helped greatly in the bandroom. We thank them for everything."

New conductor

4BR was informed that a new conductor will be in place following the forthcoming Yorkshire Regional Championships in Huddersfield in March. Applications and enquiries should be made through the band's website.
