An intensive 7-day course aimed at helping tuba performers reach new levels of excellence and performance is to be held in Edinburgh in July.

The Scottish International Tuba Festival will be hosted at St Mary's Music School between the 21st & 27th July and is specifically aimed at advanced level performers. It is sponsored by Buffet Crampon.

Deep dive

A spokesperson told 4BR: "It really is an intensive 'deep-dive' into the nuts and bolts of becoming a successful professional tuba player. It is for those who really wish to explore what it takes and how to develop the skill set to do it."

The week will feature lessons, masterclasses and workshops on areas such as orchestral, solo and improvisation playing, pedagogy, wellbeing and innovation.

Immediate deadline

Applications to attend should be made by video with an immediate deadline of 31st January.
