Tameside Whit Friday announces contest details

There are ten contest venues on the Tameside Whit Friday circuit this year for bands to try and claim a share of the prize money pots.

The Tameside Whit Friday contest organisers have announced details of the ten contests that will be held on its popular circuit of events on Friday 24th May.

Run by the Friends of Tameside Whit Friday with overall prize sponsorship from Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council, bands will be able to compete at Broadoak, Carrbrook, Denton, Droylsden, Dukinfield Tame Valley, Heyrod, Hurst Village, Stalybridge Labour Club and Top Mossley.

In addition, the circuit welcomes Hyde Central which will be running a Whit Friday contest for the very first time in Hyde town centre.

Prizes

In addition to the numerous individual prizes on offer, there is a generous overall prize package funded by Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council.

The overall Tameside Champion will be presented with £2,000 plus the Tameside Rosebowl Trophy with podium awards of £1,000 and £750 respectively and overall section, local and youth awards.

The adjudicators this year are Duncan Beckley, Ryan Breen, Jack Capstaff, John Davies, Paul Norley, Alan Duguid, Chris King, Phillip Littlemore, Colum O'Shea and Duncan Wilson.

Volunteers

The Whit Friday contests are run by volunteers, with the organisers welcoming any person who wishes to offer their assistance.
