The musical life of the great cornet player Derek Garside has been marked with an obituary in 'The Telegraph' newspaper.

The former principal cornet of the CWS (Manchester) Band and one of the most revered brass band musicians of his generation, died on the 28th July aged 94.

The obituary follows that of his great friend David Read MBE as well as that of Geoffrey Brand which has appeared in the broadsheet newspaper in recent times.

Funeral

The funeral of Derek Garside will take place on Thursday 29th August at 10.45am at the Central Methodist Church, Brighouse followed by a service at the local Crematorium.
