Stars of the present and future to be featured at British Trombone Festival

  The weekend takes place at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire

The British Trombone Society will be hosting its British Trombone Festival at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire over the weekend of the 26th & 27th October.

Confirmed artists and groups include Peter Moore, Josh Cirtina, Bones Apart, Chris Augustine, GALSI, Callum Au, Emily White, Jeremy Price, RBC Jazz Orchestra and the RBC Brass Band conducted by Ian Porthouse.

Youth elements

In addition to the main Festival, the Saturday sees a number of youth events led by Tom Lees and Becky Pepper, where younger players will get the chance to learn visiting artists.

They stated: "There will be massed ensembles, masterclasses, and interactive classes covering all styles of playing, from Early to Modern."

There will also be trade stands from makers and commercial companies whilst the weekend will also see the hosting of the society's prestigious competitions.

Finalists

The finalists of the Alto Trombone competition have already been announced with Milly Deering, James Druce and Jamie Reid now performing the 'Trombone Concerto' by Georg Christoph Wagenseil and excerpts from the orchestral repertoire to claim the award which comes with a 2,000 Euro Jurgen Voight Voucher first prize.

Tintwistle Band

April 28 • Tintwistle Band are looking for a Soprano and front row cornet players to help complete our team.. We rehearse Monday and Thursday 8-10pm at our own bandroom on Old Road in Tintwistle, and perform a variety of concerts all year round.
