Sykes to lead tubas at EverReady

The vastly experienced Steve Sykes will take his tuba talents to EverReady Band to help in their Area and Spring Festival challenges.

The EverReady Band has announced the signing of the celebrated tuba player Steve Sykes to the position of principal Eb bass.

Regarded as one of the finest performers of his generation, he brings a vast amount of musical experience to the North of England Band — as a player with Grimethorpe Colliery Band, and as an international soloist and conductor.

Most recently, Steve led St Austell Band in being crowned 2024 Second Section National Champion of Great Britain.

A spokesperson for the band stated: "We are delighted to welcome Steve to the band and everyone is looking forward to working alongside him for the Regional Championships in Durham and Spring Festival in Blackpool."
