Nocturnal music to be heard in Stavanger

The music making will go on long into the night in Stavanger on Friday with a special Midnight Brass treat from Manger Musikklag, Bjorsvik Brass and Tertnes Brass.

Stavanger
Stavanger at night promises a real musical treat...

There will be a wonderful late night musical attraction to add to the exciting atmosphere to be enjoyed in Stavanger this weekend as the European Championships hit town.

Midnight Brass

As part of the programme of events, on Friday 9th May there will a special 'Midnight Brass' concert featuring a trio of Norway's premier bands — Manger Musikklag, Bjorsvik Brass and Tertnes Brass.

The night has a special 'Nocturne' flavour at St Petri Church starting at 10.30pm — the perfect, relaxing way to round off what will be the first day of major hard fought band competition at the Championships.

Bach to Ball and more

Tertnes under the baton of Thorgeir Thunestvedt will open the proceedings with Nordic music by Greig, Olsen and Torstein Aagaard Nisen amongst others, whilst Bjorsvik Brass led by Andreas Hanson follow with Bach, Sparke, Groven and a classic bit of Eric Ball.

As the local clocks strike midnight it will be Manger who round things off under Allan Withington with a 'Bach and Beyond' set — a special Oratorio for Brass Band and Soloist combining St Matthew's Passion to Gospel drive and even a tasty bit of Dixeland and pop...
