Fresh from their success at the recent European Brass Band Championships in Stavanger, the Italian Brass Band has continued its pioneering series of concerts in the heart of Rome aimed at celebrating as well as promoting the sound of the traditional brass band.
The latest event took place at the theatre of the Ennio Morricone School in Rome, where for the past two years the band has built up a growing following of supporters and brass band music lovers.
STEAM
The school itself actively promotes music making within its local community led by the Dean of School, Prof. Paolo Lozzi and by its teaching staff.
The latest initiative was entitled, 'STEAM Festival' — standing for the promotion of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics.
Over a week the school presented each aspect of their education outlook promoting the practical and interconnected learning of the subjects considered fundamental for the next generation of young Rome students.
Important role
The fourth day centred on the Arts with the Italian Brass Band providing a thrilling performance of their talents as well as explaining how the band is acting as an important educational and as well as ambassadorial role for the city.
Speaking to 4BR, Band Vice President and bass trombone player Giovanni Celestino said: "We have a wonderful relationship with the School which has a fantastic outlook towards the promotion of the arts and music.
We have a growing base of supporters and people who wish to find out more about the band and how to play our instruments and it was a special honour this year to tell them about our success in Stavanger."
