Regent Brass is to work in partnership with the leading rugby league team, London Broncos to support the work of the DKMS Blood Cancer charity.
Launched in 2013 DKMS have registered over 1 million blood stem cell donors in the UK who in turn have helped give over 2,500 people a second chance of life.
Not just northern
With the assistance of well known trombonist and conductor Kevin Holdgate (also a very handy rugby league player in his day), the band and the team are helping to celebrate the ambassadorial work of the amazing Emilia, who herself had a bone marrow transplant.
Kevin told 4BR: "As many of my friends will know DKMS is the bone marrow charity through which we did the highly successful 'Swab for Sykes' campaign some years ago for trombone player Stephen Sykes — and what a fantastic result was achieved through that.
I think the number of lives that campaign has saved so far is 15 and counting. Stephen Carney was our contact at the London Regionals at the time and is also instrumental in this latest charity event, so it would be great if that result could be achieved again.
Emilia is now a brilliant advocate to get people to sign up for DKMS to help others in their fight against blood cancer."

Amazing
Regent Brass MD Alan Duguid added: "We are playing before the game and to accompany the Broncos when they take to the field. It's a fantastic charity and Emilia is an equally amazing ambassador — and we also want to show that brass banding and rugby league isn't just a northern thing!"
Regent Brass will be playing at the London Broncos final home game against Bradford Bulls on 6th September. 25% of gate receipts will be donated to the charity, so why not come along to hear top class banding and enjoy some top-class Rugby League as well.
