Full up signs for Willebroek's Best of Belgium

The latest Willebroek Academy Course will get underway this weekend — and all the spaces have been filled.

Brass Band Willebroek
The course is full to the brim with talented performers

The sixth Brass Band Willebroek Academy Course gets underway this weekend with organisers telling 4BR that it has reached its full capacity of delegates for the very first time.

Leads

Artistic Director Frans Violet will once again conduct the Willebroek Academy Band, while one of Belgium's most respected musical figures, Dr Luc Vertommen, takes charge of WA NXT.

The teaching team is drawn from within the ranks of Brass Band Willebroek, with Lode Violet, Jeroen Corneillie, Tim De Maeseneer, Jonas Violet, Wim Lauryssen, Stijn Aertgeerts and Ken Gybels providing invaluable support and inspiration. The WA NXT ensemble will once again be supported by Anne-Sophie Leveugle and Thibaut De Bondt, who return as tutors and activity coordinators.

Best of Belgium

The musical theme this year is 'Best of Belgium', with both ensembles exploring music by leading Belgian composers. The programme also celebrates the 70th birthday of Jan Van der Roost, whose music features prominently, with WA NXT performing his vibrant 'Toccata Festiva', while the Willebroek Academy Band will take on his landmark work 'From Ancient Times'.
