The current Holme Valley Contest Committee is requesting that as many band representatives and supporters as possible make the effort to attend the organisation's Annual General Meeting to be held on Thursday 15th October.

It will take place in Holmfirth Methodist Church, Holmfirth (HD9 7EQ) starting at 7.30pm, where included on the agenda will be the future of its popular Holme Valley Contest which has a proud history that stretches back over 100 years.

Contest help

With it generous prize fund, the event has become one of the essential march and hymn tune contests of the Summer, but 4BR was informed that due to the loss of a number of long serving, dedicated volunteers in recent years, it now urgently needs new people to help with its organisation and running.

Please attend

A spokesperson told 4BR: "Without band support the 2027 contest may not take place and we are seeking to appoint new committee members and officers at this meeting to ensure this does not happen.

We would welcome a band member or representative to attend this meeting and be prepared to join the committee to secure the future of this historic contest in the Holme Valley."
