Loganair, the UK's leading regional airline, has agreed a three-year partnership with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra (RSNO) to support its engagement work across the Orkney, Western Isles, and Shetland.
The partnership will enable the RSNO to build a sustained programme in Scotland's island communities, helping it deliver performances, workshops and music-making activity with local schools and community organisations
In its first two years, flights from Glasgow will carry small RSNO ensembles and engagement staff building towards a major island residency in 2029 with flight support to bring a larger orchestra and staff to the island communities for a celebratory series of performances and activities.
Rare reach
Ronnie Matheson, Chief Commercial Officer at Loganair, said: "World-class orchestral music rarely reaches audiences in Orkney, Shetland and the Western Isles on their own doorstep, and by flying the RSNO's musicians and engagement teams north we can help change that.
The programme will reach schoolchildren and local arts organisations over its three years. We're building towards a 2029 residency that leaves something lasting in these communities, and that strengthens the connection between Scotland's islands and the talent and ambitions they already hold."

Ongoing commitment
In response Alistair Mackie, RSNO Chief Executive, said: "Thanks to Loganair, we will be able to bring our musicians directly into even more communities across the country with live concerts and more.
Our engagement activity with Scotland's youngest islanders will be a vital part of this partnership, reflecting our ongoing commitment to reaching every child in every community and to addressing vital gaps in Scottish music education."
Loganair was named the most punctual major airline for UK arrivals and departures in 2025 by the UK Civil Aviation Authority, with 81% of its flights arriving and departing on time, significantly above the industry average of 72%.
