There are two new releases to add to your CD collection for World of Brass.

Regionals

Regionals 2027 will give you the ideal opportunity to get to know the five works that will test the bands around the country next year.

Peter Grahm's 'Ben Hur' will test the Championship contenders, whilst 'Rhapsody on a Theme by Purcell' will provide stiff challenge for the First Section bands.

Gareth Wood's Swiss linked 'Helvetia' will have to be overcome by Second Section rivals, with Darrol Barry's evocative Boudicea inspired 'Iceni Autumn' a colourful test of the Third Section challengers. The Fourth Section bands will perform Fredrick Schjelderup's breezy 'Light Adventures'.

John Golland

There is also a major new release from 2026 British Open champion, Foden's.

'The Music of John Golland' is a landmark recording, supported by the John Golland Trust with thanks to Associate Producer and Project Coordinator Paul Hindmarsh.

Conducted by Michael Fowles it features four first recordings, including Golland's 'Tuba Concerto' with brass band accompaniment, with the internationally renowned Ross Knight, solo tuba of l'Orchestre de la Suisse Romande.

In addition there is his seminal symphonic study, 'Sounds', 'Concerto for Band' Op.82, written for the National Youth Brass Band of Switzerland and dedicated to its founder Markus Bach, who recently passed away.

The 'Graubunden March' and 'Bellna' suite maintain the Swiss connection whilst there is also the wonderfully playful 'Fives and Threes' which was originally written for the James Shepherd Versatile Brass ensemble.
