Davies departs from Glossop

Jonathan Davies and the Glossop Old Band have parted company.

Glossop

Glossop Old Band has announced the departure of its MD, Jonathan Davies.

Band spokesperson David Richardson told 4BR: "He has been with the band for the last four years during which time the band has experienced steady improvement."

Success

During his tenure at the helm the band came 3rd at Pontins in 2005, closely followed by 4th & 5th places at the 2006 & 2007 Midlands Area respectively.

Further success followed in 2007 with 2nd place in the Senior Trophy culminating in the band being crowned First Section, Midlands Area, Regional Champions in 2008, earning a place in the National Finals and also a return to the Championship Section for 2009.

Praise

David added: "All adjudications received during Jon’s tenure have had nothing but praise for the MD’s interpretation and shaping of the music played."

The band has also been very busy on the concert and theatre stages, having taken part in two separate, week-long productions of “Brassed Off” at the Altincham Garrick Playhouse in 2005 and 2008.

Break

Dave concluded: "Although we very much hope to work with Jon in the near future, he now plans to take a break from banding to spend more time with his recently augmented family.

The band would like to thank Jon for his tireless endeavours to improve the band and attract new players, and wish him and his family well."
