Rococo errata

No — its not a cry from the Lion King musical, but a list of mistakes and errors in the British Open test piece...

Symphony Hall

4BR has been informed of the following list of errors and mistakes in this year's British Open test piece, 'Rococo Variations' by Edward Gregson.

Please note the following:

In the preface, the note regarding ‘sprung rhythms’ should read up to figure 2, NOT figure 1 .

Bar 260: Baritones should remain ff
Bar 456-457: The euphonium dynamic should be similar to cornet in that the dotted crotchets should have fp with cresc hairpins following. The last semi-quavers in euphonium 2 should start f with cresc hairpin following.
Bar 507: Soprano and lower cornets should be marked f on their entries (note that 1st and 3rd cornets are marked f on their entries just before).
Bar 410: (Fig. 36) Tempo should be 116 NOT 108
Bar 497: (Fig. 44) Tempo should be 126 NOT 120
Bar 536: Solo cornet. 3rd minim beat, lower part should be F natural.

The following points are fairly obvious and will have been spotted by most.

Bar 6: cresc. missing from 2nd horn
Bar 59: Horns crec. to f
Bar 66: Flugel and horns drop to f
Bar 78: Horns cresc to f
Bar 118: E flat bass should be pp
Bar 132: Trombones – dim. missing
Bar 263: Bass trombone should be mf
Bar 295: E flat bass drop to f after first quaver
Bar 303: Flugel horn – dim missing
Bar 346: Euphonium cresc poco a poco missing
Bar 393: E flat bass and euphonium cresc missing
Bar 456-457: cresc missing
Bar 459: Euphonium cresc missing
Bar 507-508: cresc missing in solo cornets
Bar 516: Bass trombone ff missing
