Newhall winners

The Newhall Band provided a host of winners at the recent Autumn Leicestershire Brass Band Association Solo, Duet and Quartet Contest.

Congratulations are in line it seems for several Newhall players who have brought home prizes from the Autumn Leicestershire Brass Band Association Solo, Duet and Quartet Contest.

Comrades

Trombonists Jill Fern and Claire Smith won third place in the Open Duet section with the rather appropriate 'Cheerful Comrades', whilst Shiela Dixon, Rebecca Stonehouse, Patricia Woodings and Jo Priestley won third place in the Open Quartet section with 'Foursome for Brass'.

Day stars

Shiela Dixon told 4BR: "Our stars of the day were winners of the Open Duet section, Rebecca Stonehouse and Patricia Woodings who gave a great show with 'Will O' the Wisp'".

Almost

Almost in the prizes were Patricia Woodings who came fourth in the Open Slow Melody section, Shiela Dixon who came fourth in the Open Air Varie, and Shiela Dixon and Sharron Timperley-Smith who came fourth in the Open Duet section.

Also playing on the day were Louise Parker and Abbie Priestley, whilst MD Kevin Holdgate who joined Claire and Jill to play a new quartet for trombones especially written for the day by Andre Cordonnier.

Petworth Town Band

November 6 • Petworth Town Band have vacancies for CORNETS and TUBA. We are a very active band with a very inspirational MD Paula Streeter. We rehearse once a week and would welcome all new players to the band


Wotton-under-Edge Silver Band

November 4 • We are a busy and very friendly 2nd section band with 5 current vacancies - FRONT ROW CORNET – BACK ROW CORNET- EUPHONIUM - Bb BASS - PERCUSSION. We rehearse on Tuesdays & Thursdays near our lovely home town, just a short drive from M5, J14.


Harlow Brass Band

November 4 • We have vacancies for CORNETS, TROMBONES, 2ND HORN AND PERCUSSION. We are a welcoming, non contesting band who organising their own Spring and Christmas concerts and enjoy playing at local events throughout the year.
