Personal connection for Childs concert

The welcome cross border appearance of the Woodfalls Band in Wales this weekend will have an added personal connection for the family of MD, Dr Robert Childs.

The Childs family has been one of hundreds helped each year by the care and support of the Velindre Cancer Care Centre

There will be a very personal connection to a welcome cross border appearance by the Woodfalls Band in Wales this weekend.

The West of England Regional Champion will be appearing in concert in Bassaleg near Newport on Saturday in an event that will raise money for the Velindre Cancer Care Centre.

The band's professional MD Dr Robert Childs will be conducting, whilst in the audience will be his wife Lorraine who received wonderful care and support from the NHS Trust hospital staff during her recent illness.

He told 4BR: "Velindre helps hundreds of people every year, and the amazing staff do a quite incredible job. This is a just a thank you back in return from my family to them, so it's is going to be a night of great music and support.

I'm delighted that the band is joined by the Risca Male Voice Choir, one of the finest in Wales, and I'm sure there is going to be something on the menu for everyone to enjoy."
