New Awards at Blue Lake

Latest information on the 2010 Blue Lake Brass Band Festival.

The annual Blue Lake Brass Band Festival is scheduled this year for Saturday 20 November.

Attending bands are invited to participate in the Massed March, the Win TV Christmas Parade, and the on-stage Music Contest being held in Helpmann Theatre.

The 2010 music adjudicator is the widely experienced motivator, trainer, coach and composer, Mr Bill Broughton who has undertaken this task at many contests and festivals. He has previously adjudicated at the 'Generations in Jazz' in Mount Gambier, the Brass Band Festival and around Australia.

New Awards

The Lions Club of Mount Gambier announces, beginning November 20th 2010, two new awards as part of the Blue Lake Brass Band Contest.

The Band of the Year Award: This award, which entails a perpetual trophy and a cash grant of $2000, will seek to choose a community band from any grading that reflects the Lions motto of “We Serve”. The band will be chosen both on its involvement in the festival and its service to its community. Applicants will be required to complete a survey form and follow the guidelines set by the selection committee.

The Musical Director of the Year Award: This award, donated by KEA Campers, will see the selected MD receive a 7 day complimentary use of a KEA deluxe 2 berth camper with shower and toilet to enjoy some relaxing to recharge the batteries at a time of their choosing. Some 'high seasons' are excluded.
