Dutch Open ready for entertainment battle

Bands from four nations will head to Drachten this weekend to try and claim the prizes on offer at the Dutch Open.

  The Dutch Open takes place this weekend in Drachten.

The Dutch Open Brass Band Championships will be held in theatre De Lawei in Drachten this weekend where 18 bands will be providing over 12 hours of entertainment.

Four nations

The adjudication team of Simone Rebello, Armin Bachman, Bert Appermont and Danny Oosterman will compare and contrasts the bands in the three sections from the bands from the home nation, Belgium, German and Scotland.

A wide variety of works are being performed including a compositions by Simon Dobson, Stan Nieuwenhuis, Peter Graham, Edward Gregson, Paul Raphael, Thibaut Bruniaux, Philip Sparke, Ludovic Neurohr, Bert Appermont and many more.

Prizes

The Championship Section winner will take home a cash prize of 1,250 Euros plus the opportunity to participate in a special Yamaha Band Clinic event. The winners of the First and Second Sections will also add Yamaha Band Clinics to their prizes of 750 and 500 Euros respectively.

Wotton-under-Edge Silver Band

November 4 • We are a busy and very friendly 2nd section band with 5 current vacancies - FRONT ROW CORNET – BACK ROW CORNET- EUPHONIUM - Bb BASS - PERCUSSION. We rehearse on Tuesdays & Thursdays near our lovely home town, just a short drive from M5, J14.


Harlow Brass Band

November 4 • We have vacancies for CORNETS, TROMBONES, 2ND HORN AND PERCUSSION. We are a welcoming, non contesting band who organising their own Spring and Christmas concerts and enjoy playing at local events throughout the year.


Chinnor Silver

November 4 • Our COMMUNITY BANDS next rehearsal is on Monday 10th at 11am and held in our bandroom.. Blowing with us doesn't impact your own band and its free.. We welcome all regardless of ability . Tea and cakes an added bonus.
