  David W Ashworth has over 40 years of successful brass band experience to call upon

The experienced David W Ashworth has been appointed as the new Musical Director at Glossop Old Band.

David take on the role with immediate effect and is keen to use his 40 years plus of experience to help develop the Midlands area band.

Delighted

He told 4BR: "I'm delighted to have been appointed. I had the pleasure of working with them last year and I had no hesitation when I was asked.

They have had some difficulties recently, but I'm keen to reverse that and do everything possible to rebuild the band and return it to a position of concert and contest strength."

In response, a band spokesperson told 4BR: "We're delighted to have attracted such a respected musician with a wealth of brass banding knowledge and experience.

We have every confidence that David will take us forward. We're currently working on recruiting new players and we're sure that having him lead us will attract players back to Glossop Old Band.

We would also like to thank Luke Pallister for all his hard work throughout this difficult year and wish him every success in his relocation new position."
