Midlands Regional Champion, the GUS Band has announced the appointment of Christopher Bond as its new Musical Director.
It sees the Cornishman take on the role after enjoying a successful three-year tenure as Resident Conductor working alongside Dr David Thornton who stepped down as professional conductor in December.
Inspirational direction
Speaking about the appointment, GUS Chairperson David Elliot-Smith said: "Over the last three years, we have benefited from the inspirational direction of both David and Christopher.
Having worked with Christopher on an extensive range of projects during this time, including two wins at the Dr. Martin Trust Contest and two successful Brass in Concert performances, we felt the time was right to collaborate with him on a full-time basis. We now look forward to the Regional Championships, Grand Shield, and what may follow."
He added: "We would like to place on record our sincere gratitude to David. His blend of training, experience and musicianship has contributed hugely to the positive strides the band has made in the last few years."
