The Rivington & Adlington will be leaving its long term bandhall this weekend as they look forward to the future in a new bespoke headquarters that is being built for them.

It comes through an agreement with a supportive housing development owner and eight years of hard work which will now soon come to fruition. All contracts have been completed and the past week has marked the final rehearsals before a temporary move to a new home while construction of the new building gets underway.

Sign the walls

To mark the occasion, the band is inviting all players past and present to visit them on Saturday 19th September between noon and 2.00pm for one last look around the bandroom and the chance to sign its walls before demolition.

Speaking about the move, a spokesperson told 4BR: "The band wishes to place on record its thanks to Dylan Taylor, Janet Taylor and Andre Baron, who between them have put in hundreds of hours on the project organising meetings between builders and solicitors, helping to secure the new rehearsal venue, and managing the process as a whole, all while juggling their day jobs.

Their efforts follow eight years of work behind the scenes to reach this point and mark another step forward as the 160-year-old band looks ahead to its new home."
