Lympstone success

There was a nice return from a trip to the seaside at Torquay for Lympstone SW Telecoms Band last weekend.

Lymstone

Last Saturday, the Lympstone South West Telecoms Band competed at the 62nd SWBBA Championships in Torquay playing Malcolm Arnold’s 'Fantasy for Brass Band' in the Open Section.

Delight

After the announcement of the results the band was delighted to win the award for highest placed First Section as well as coming 3rd overall.

The band have risen from the Fourth Section to play in the top section of the SWBBA Contest over the last 10 years, and they put it down to the sheer hard work and enthusiasm it gains from its MD, Charlie Fleming.

South West Telecoms generous sponsorship is now in its 10th year and it was a fitting way to celebrate the fact that they have now gained their own rehearsal facilities in the heart of the village of Lympstone4BR

Decade of sponsorship

The band also recently played at their sponsor’s 25th Anniversary celebrations. South West Telecoms generous sponsorship is now in its 10th year and it was a fitting way to celebrate the fact that they have now gained their own rehearsal facilities in the heart of the village of Lympstone.

Next year will be the band’s 120th Anniversary and it is hoped that the band’s success and development continues.
